ANISA RIAZ MURSHED - STATEMENT / BIOGRAPHY

Anisa Riaz Murshed is a passionate British contemporary multidisciplinary artist based in Luton. Anisa's interest in the creative arts began during a period of ill health, where to pass the time, she started to doodle and make sketches based on her imagination and surroundings. Anisa is a final year student studying towards an undergraduate Bachelor's Degree in Art and Design at the University of Bedfordshire School of Arts and Creative Industries. Anisa is a textiles artist who specialises in print and pattern making. Her Bangladeshi culture and Islamic religion influence her work, which focuses on exploring cultural patterns and reconstructing them into a contemporary context. Her artistic career began at Barnfield College in Luton, where she learned the fundamentals of screen printing and heat press. Anisa's tutor inspired her to further these skills and knowledge in textiles at the University of Bedfordshire. Anisa's experience in supporting teaching and learning through the roles of Teaching Assistant and a recent internship at the University of Bedfordshire in Guildford Street Press has resulted in her aspiration to pursue a career in teaching in the Secondary and Further Education sectors.
